Oberon ‘Gosling’ Ocarina in Soprano C. This Gosling is made with a process called 'saggar firing'. Saggar firing involves burnishing the ocarina to a high gloss using an agate stone while the instrument is nearly dry, or applying Terra Sigillata, then after bisque firing the ocarina is packed into a box called a Saggar along with various combustible materials like coffee grounds, seaweed, salts, banana peels, etc. When the ocarina is fired again these elements flash patterns into the clay. The effect is always totally random and always completely unpredictable.
